THE NETBALL PLAYER’S PLEDGE

1. I will be a warrior - Not making excuses, leaving my bad day at the door. I will wear my heart on my sleeve, a smile on my face and leave everything on the court.

2. I will be a leader – I will have the courage to speak to my coach orcaptain if I have any concerns instead of holding them in.

3. I will respect the game – Not putting down my team mates or opposition, remembering everyone has their own story and battles.

4. I will play like my 7 year old self is watching me from the sideline – Fearless and free.

5. I will be a good sport on the bench – The ultimate team player, analysing my position like I am on the court playing. Keeping warm - always ready - no sooking.

6. I will get comfortable with the uncomfortable – Knowing my attitude will determine how I perform.

7. I will be curious & creative - I will have my own ideas and opinions and I will share them in a positive way.

8. I will be open to criticism - Always seeking improvement. Instructions may often seem harsh, but I will take it all on board as constructive feedback. Our coaches simply want the best for us.

9. I will be loyal to my team - I will support my team mates on and off the court, at school or in any social environment.

10. I will be humble in victory and be graceful in defeat - learning from every experience and not being afraid to make mistakes.

Take a risk, have fun and spark it up! – Sarah Wall

CHANGES TO TRAINING VENUES

Over the last few years, both SLNA and Point Cook Netball Club have been working with Council to try and improve the netball facilities in Point Cook. The first small step towards this has been the provision of lighting to two of the outside courts at Jamieson Way Community Centre. The long term goal is to see all four courts lit, with storage and club facilities provided onsite. Having a home for our netball club is hugely important in terms of strengthening our club culture and we are excited that the first steps are underway.

As a result, we have booked the outdoor courts for training on both Wednesday and Thursday nights effective from August 1. We will no longer be training atBoardwalk Carranballac Gym.

All Wednesday night teams will now train at Jamieson Way Community Centre on the outdoor courts. Thursday night teams will be rostered on at either Jamieson Way Carranballac or on the outdoor courts at Jamieson Way Community Centre. It is our intention to share the venues across all teams that train on a Thursday night. Our Tuesday night teams will remain at Jamieson Way Carranballac.

We understand that some families may query why we have made the change. As mentioned above it will allow us to build our club culture with multiple teams being able to train together. It also provides more flexibility when scheduling training sessions. In addition, we have had a number of issues with Carranballac in the past including the slippery court surface, access to toilets, and goal posts not always being available – having the majority of the teams outside will minimise these issues for us. Finally, netball is played outdoors as well as indoors. Training outdoors will improve our players skills and better prepare them for playing outside. For our growing number of players who play at rep level and beyond, the majority of tournaments are played outside so training in the same conditions can only be beneficial for them.

Please note that training will continue at your normal venue for the remainder of July. A roster for Thursday nights will be provided to coaches shortly.

If you have any queries on the above, please email headcoach@sanctuarylakesnetball.com

CONGRATULATIONS NATASHA DIMKOVSKI & TAYLAH GATES

SLNA is very proud to announce Natasha and Taylah have been selected into the Elmer squad of 15 players, with a final cut to 12 players in October.

The Elmer teams is a combination of players coming together representing our area.

Approximately 88 girls trialled, which they cut to 30 and now to 15 girls.

Trials were very extensive with intense drills, balls skills and games to select the best players to represent Elmer.

Both girls will now train hard every week until the final selection in October where they will play in a big tournament at Eagle Stadium in Werribee.

To have two girls from our club being selected is a wonderful achievement for both the club and especially the girls and their families.

Both Natasha and Taylah work extremely hard at their netball and it is very exciting to see they have been given this wonderful opportunity.

Congratulations girls we are very proud of you both and are all here cheering you on.
