GRAND FINAL WRAP UP

What a big day it was for all our teams playing in grand finals.
Congratulations to all 4 teams and their coaches in representing the club with wonderful sportsmanship. We finished the day with 1 premiership and 3 runners up trophies.

We now have a new premiership team in the 11/3 Rubies.  At the end of the games the scores where level so they had to play an extra 2 quarters of 3 minutes each.  At the end of the 2nd quarter the rubies were up by 2 goals and won their very 1st premiership together.  Congratulations Sarah and the rubies team and well done to everyone getting behind them in the overtime is was very nerve wrecking for everyone.

11/1 Diamonds played Newport Phoenix and had a very hard game but did not give up even winning the last quarter to show they kept going until the final siren.  It was the 1st grand final for this team and to finish with a runners up trophy showed what a great season they had.

13/1 Orioles went into the grand final undefeated for the season however this game was always going to be difficult and very physical.  A number of players had a few bruiser but the team continued to play clean netball which we are very proud of. To finish the season with a runners up trophy to add to their collection of trophies is a wonderful achievement. The OriolesIn 4 seasons have now played in 4 grand finals (2 premierships and 2 runners up).

15/1 Panthers had a wonderful season in a very strong division 1 competition.  Although the panthers didn't win the premiership the girls played hard and did not give up.  To walk away with a runners up trophy in this very strong competition is a great achievement and one which all the girls should be proud of.

We are also very excited to announce some individual awards that were handed out on grand final day.  These award were voted on by the umpires each week after the game.

Congratulations to the following players.

11/3 Gems:- Natalie Ierodiaconou (Runners Up)
11/1 Diamonds - Tahana Aitu (Best & Fairest)
13/2 Pearls - Charley Muscat (Runners Up)
13/2 Orioles - Connor Lilly (Best & Fairest)
15/3 - Phoenix - Sally Bratby (Runners Up)
15/2 - Leopards - Jekaya Lam (Best & Fairest)

Thank you to Amberly and Bridie for scoring in all 4 games today it was really appreciated by the parents / players / coaches to have you both there.

Sanctuary Lakes has the best supporters with all courts full of blue and pink it was so exciting to see and we thank you all full the wonderful support you gave the teams while they were playing.

Finally we would like to thank everyone for another wonderful season, stay safe over the holiday break and we will see everyone back at training the week beginning 3rd of October, with round 1 of the summer season beginning the 8th of October.

MONDAY NIGHT PUMAS - SPORTSMANSHIP

I would just like to say how proud l am of our Monday night pumas players tonight.  The wonderful sportsmanship that they showed toward a Willi Tigers player that dislocated her knee during the game made me very proud of these young ladies.  Thank you Courtney Santullo for running and getting the wheel chair and even Ally Dillon offering to run and get ice even though she was playing GS.  Well done girls, that is what SLNA is all about. If anyone knows the Willi Tigers Player can you please wish her all the best from Sanctuary Lakes.

THE NETBALL PLAYER’S PLEDGE

1. I will be a warrior - Not making excuses, leaving my bad day at the door. I will wear my heart on my sleeve, a smile on my face and leave everything on the court.

2. I will be a leader – I will have the courage to speak to my coach orcaptain if I have any concerns instead of holding them in.

3. I will respect the game – Not putting down my team mates or opposition, remembering everyone has their own story and battles.

4. I will play like my 7 year old self is watching me from the sideline – Fearless and free.

5. I will be a good sport on the bench – The ultimate team player, analysing my position like I am on the court playing. Keeping warm - always ready - no sooking.

6. I will get comfortable with the uncomfortable – Knowing my attitude will determine how I perform.

7. I will be curious & creative - I will have my own ideas and opinions and I will share them in a positive way.

8. I will be open to criticism - Always seeking improvement. Instructions may often seem harsh, but I will take it all on board as constructive feedback. Our coaches simply want the best for us.

9. I will be loyal to my team - I will support my team mates on and off the court, at school or in any social environment.

10. I will be humble in victory and be graceful in defeat - learning from every experience and not being afraid to make mistakes.

Take a risk, have fun and spark it up! – Sarah Wall
